I started this painting back in the Winter of 2020/2021 after visiting the Machrie Moor standing stones on the Isle of Arran during a holiday, but it never got finished until July 2023. My husband and I found the extensive site of stones during the COVID pandemic. We were blown away by their magical feeling and beautiful setting. Taken from my own photo it’s an oil painting on canvas board with a little gesso on the stones underneath to create texture.
This was a poignant holiday as it was then we decided together it was time for a career change and eventually after months of considering our options I established Sarah Louise Artist as a full-time business.
