Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year

May 12, 2023

Last month I put my big girl pants on and submitted a painting for the very first time into the Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2023.

I chose to use my Torhouse Stone Circle oil landscape as my primary submission piece.

I always knew the odds would be low of getting in but thought I may make a Wildcard place.

Unfortunately but not surprising I have received word that my application has not been successful but was invited to apply as a Wildcard.

What I didn’t realise was that the first application was only for the main artists and once those artists had been chosen, would they then source the Wildcard places.

So to become a Wildcard I was asked to submit another application and places would be based on first come first served when applications opened.

However the day applications opened for Wildcards was the coming weekend when I was on holiday in North Wales.

So for 2023 I have had to accept that it wasn’t my time and at least I am now more familiar with the process for the next time!

Most importantly I can now take my Torhouse Stone Circle painting to my framers and it will be ready and for sale in Grange Cottage Studio in June.
