In 2018 I spent a few days over in East Lothian and took some dramatic photos of Bass Rock surrounded by dark skies. One of those images inspired my first go at “alla prima” painting tutored by Joan at the Robinwood Art School. I loved the thickness of the oil paint...
SLA 023 – Ailsa Craig
A tranquil scene of the granite rock off the Ayrshire coastline and which I have sailed around on the Waverley paddle steamer.
SLA 020 – Reflective Culzean
The dramatic view of cliff-top Culzean Castle as seen from Croy beach. I love this painting, it's one of my favourites as I enjoyed creating the soft reflections in the sea water below. This artwork is now proudly hanging on a wall in Canada.
SLA 014 – Straiton Village
I live just 5 miles from the Carrick village of Straiton and my husband and I often enjoy the trails around the village. I painted this landscape in 2018 and it's also the inspiration for our brand and logo. The skyline is a beauty, featuring the Straiton Monument...

In 2018 I studied portraiture at the Robinwood Art School and although it was difficult, I loved the maths behind the scaling of the facial features. Mixing all the different skin tones and colours in oil paint was enjoyable too. I generally don't paint portraits, but...
SLA 007 – Tranquil Waters
In 2016 I visited the Scottish island of Iona for the first time and it was an incredibly peaceful and beautiful location. I took a photo looking out to the surroundings waters which inspired this artwork using tissue paper and water mixable oil.
SLA 005 – London Commute
I lived and worked in London for six years and this painting always draws me back to that time. I love the red bus and the red telephone box. I donated this oil creation to the Ayrshire Sportsability charity in 2018.
SLA 003 – Winter Visitor
The arrival of long tailed tits in the garden always makes me aware that Winter isn't far away and I created this piece using gesso, music sheet and water mixable oil.
