Venturing below the cliffs at Culzean you discover the secret caves used as a smuggling hideaway. I had a lot of fun creating this mixed media piece using tissue paper, gesso and cling film to develop the texture under the acrylic ink.
SLA 017 – Cliffside Cottage
In 2018 I was introduced to acrylic ink and had some right old fun playing around with the ink on different textures such as gesso, tissue paper and masking fluid. I also took some sand paper to it to create the cracking effect.
SLA 007 – Tranquil Waters
In 2016 I visited the Scottish island of Iona for the first time and it was an incredibly peaceful and beautiful location. I took a photo looking out to the surroundings waters which inspired this artwork using tissue paper and water mixable oil.
SLA 003 – Winter Visitor
The arrival of long tailed tits in the garden always makes me aware that Winter isn't far away and I created this piece using gesso, music sheet and water mixable oil.
SLA 002 – Peek A Boo
We regularly hear the tawny owls in the trees above us at our countryside home in South Ayrshire and I enjoyed drawing this owl in charcoal onto music sheet paper titled "Singer in the Night" before I integrated it behind the branches of painted tissue paper.
