Achievements Across 2023

Dec 30, 2023

When I reach the end of the year and actually look back across the past 12 months to see what I have achieved, I’m always amazed as you forget so much, well I do!

Here’s a sample set of the wonderful oil (water mixable) paintings I’ve completed in 2023 of landscapes across south-west Scotland and garden birds which frequent my Wigtownshire garden.

Clockwise starting from top left:

  • Goatfell
  • Supermoodel (Sorcha at Kitchen Coos & Ewes)
  • Garlieston Bay
  • Killantringan Lighthouse
  • Loch Ryan
  • River Nith Estuary
  • Cruggleton Castle
  • Long Tailed Tit
  • Criffel
  • Corsewall Lighthouse
  • Robin Red Breast
  • Ailsa Craig
  • Torhouse Standing Stones (centre)

In total I have created 33 paintings, 9 of which were private commissions.  I have loved exploring my new surroundings in Wigtownshire and capturing those moments on canvas back in my garden room studio.

Although I didn’t make it into all the exhibitions I applied for and neither was I successful in making it through to Landscape Artist of the Year, I did immerse myself into various new events and collaborations across Galloway including The Wigtown Market, Old Bakery Gallery in Newton Stewart, the Kist as part of the Wigtown Book Festival and Upland Made at The Crichton in Dumfries.

Grange Cottage Studio has been open on over 130 days throughout the year and in that time I’ve met so many wonderful visitors.  I also cannot overlook the part social media plays in running my own small business and I wish to thankyou everyone who likes, shares, comments and even purchases online as every single one of you makes a difference and keeps me smiling.

THANKYOU and let’s bring on 2024!
